A very dear friend wrote this poem:
Who Are You?
By Bill Diesing
What is your favorite color?
What do you adore?
If I knew these answers
I could give you so much more
What is your special passion?
Who do you esteem?
Let me know the answers
Let us be a team
What makes you bristle?
When are you afraid?
Take me to that place
Where all your dreams are made
What do you want to accomplish?
What makes you feel unsure?
What’s your special number?
What do you abhor?
Let me be the one
You build your future for
Give me reason to walk beside you
Forever and ever more
Do you know who you are? Can you answer all of these questions? Could you? Do some of them scare you? Are you worried about what others might think if you answered them honestly?
Interesting to think about, isn’t it?
We don’t like to look at ourselves. We have been so conditioned to look outside and not inside. Outside is good, but we need to remember that you can only see on the outside that which you are willing to see on the inside. If you can answer these questions for YOU, you will have the whole universe ready to walk beside you. Claim it. If you know yourself, others can know you. If you are confident in yourself, others will be willing to be on your team. Start from the inside and the outside will fall into place.
Here are my answers:
What is your favorite color? Red
What do you adore? Being in the presence of love
What is your special passion? Honest communication
Who do you esteem? Those that think independently
What makes you bristle? Closed mindedness and lack of thought for oneself and others
When are you afraid? When I know I have to leave something or someone behind
What do you want to accomplish? Personal growth
What makes you feel unsure? The voices in my head
What’s your special number? 7
What do you abhor? Manipulation played out from fear
