I first saw this image on Facebook. It was shared by a few of my female friends, all of whom are entrepreneurs. They wrote captions such as “Because I only want what is best for you.” and “See, your daughter is a leader.” Bossy, Bitchy or Leader?
I think this is a very disturbing image and caption. It speaks volumes about the labels we attach to others and the ones we seek for ourselves and then goes on to demonstrate how we should be acting out those labels.
Seeking Understanding
Always seeking to understand when something hits me like this image, caption and comments did, I reached for the feeling. And what I came up with is that I never want to be thought of in any of these lights. These all represent what I call low energy. Using any tactics such as intimidation, dominance, superiority or simply bullying are never OK in my book because they don’t come from truth they come from fear which is never based in truth.
How do I react or respond to this? You might think that I would speak my mind, especially to those circulating it or maybe try to have it removed. No. That’s would be a common or typical response. I simply thank it for reminding me of who I don’t want to be (bossy or bitchy) and leave you with this image and caption of what I think a leader looks like.
